PERFECTIONISM IS A SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE WAY TO SELF-SABOTAGE. IT IS A WAY OF SAYING I DOUBT MY BEST E
Many proudly boast about their irritating levels of perfectionism: some even note it as a "weakness" in interviews, secrectly knowing this pushing of yourself, consistently striving for quality, and getting it right, regardless of personal loss and deterioration, is what some employers yearn... or so they think. However, perfectionism is also a small internal cry that it is not enough, it is not good enough - maybe you are not good enough, or, if something is missed or not added, you will be seen as a failure or not good at what you do.
It also shows someone who struggles to delegate, needs to be in control, is highly self-critical (and maybe of others), slow to complete things and even procrastinates, and sadly, is never truly done (possibly thinking of more things they "missed' after the project is completed, or annoyingly going back to tweak and change things). This is not an attractive quality to a knowing person. The very word, PERFECT, means absolute and complete... meaning that there maybe a deeper belief that there IS a way to completely have something done to the pleasure and satisfaction of EVERYONE. This of course being a lie. Everyone will look for a different level of 'perfect', and you will never meet everyone's standard, maybe not even your own... and here starts the self-sabotage and self doubt. So say it with me...I do not need to be perfect. My dreams and plans do not need to be perfect. It needs to be purposeful, productive, progressive, and positive. With that said, I am wishing you a blessed and productive day ahead; one that truly exceeds all expectations.
