There is a belief that knowing ourselves means knowing and only embracing, connecting with, and showcasing the 'likeable' and agreeable characteristics of our being.
You know, the kind person. The loving person. The patient person. The self who meditates, is slow to anger, and regularly gives to others.
To believe that we are only the positive, creates a dissonance within us - birthing a desperate need to cling on to the positive self concept we have created. You hear it all the time in disagreements where someone fiercely proclaims, "I am a good person", or, "I am not the bad guy here!".
They distort, ignore, or straight up overlook any information or evidence that contradict this image of themselves - forgetting that there are different parts of self, some wounded, some healing, some healed, and on this occasion, it might be an old scarred self that has been disturbed.
So I ask you, how well do you know, respect, engage with, and understand ALL that is you?
Take the time to know your selves, fully.
THERE ARE MANY ELEMENTS THAT MAKE ME WHOLE... SOME ARE BURIED, BIRTHED, RESURRECTED, OR LEFT BEHIND, DEPENDING ON THE SITUATION, CIRCUMSTANCE, OR ENVIRONMENT.
With that said, I am wishing you all a blessed and productive day ahead; one that truly exceeds all expectations, and brings comfort with selves.
